Major Career Interests -Trauma Surgery
My major interest lies in trauma surgery. This includes the management of soft tissue injuries and fractures of the limbs, spine and pelvis. I have a particular interest in reconstructive lower limb surgery and the management of osteomyelitis and the complications of fractures to the pelvis, acetabulum and lower limb.
Medico-Legal Work
I am fully conversant with the requirements of CPR 35. I produce more than 200 reports per annum. Currently about 10% are for the defence, but many reports are now produced as a Single Joint Expert (approximately 35%). I also undertake medical negligence work as an expert for claimant and defence.
I have attended course on preparation of medical reports, developing a medico-legal practice and the Society of Expert Witnesses annual meeting and the Bond Solon seminar.
I have experience as an expert witness, in Court.
I am registered on the database of experts with APIL and the Directory of Expert Witnesses.

Current Research
My current research is directed at the causes and treatment of instability in the injured ankle. I have recently received a £10,000 research grant for further work in this area. Work has been presented at the European Foot & Ankle Society Meeting and at the British Orthopaedic Association.
